In my group we played the song Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus. I played guitar in this performance, Saxona sang, Dan played bass, Ed played drums and we asked Kim our teacher to play a piano accompaniment. We decided Kim should do this in our recital as it added to the piece giving it more of a boost. One thing that could have been improved was the setting on the guitar amp as it was too distorted as the song was meant to be clean. It was meant to be clean as that's how we rehearsed the song to suit the genre and match Saxonas vocals. For the guitar I also put a capo on the 5th fret in order to make the pitch in level the range of Saxonas vocals. Although the guitar was on the wrong channel giving it distortion which it didn't need the timings were correct allowing the song to flow smoothly without any hiccups. However at the beginning of the song on the intro i accidentally played it at a tempo that was too fast for the song, but i managed to slow it down before the vocals came in without ruining the song. Overall the performance went well instrumentally, but Saxonna forgot the words in the tame part of the song which caused the song to collapse.
I was also asked to do backup vocals and play tambourine in the other groups piece which was twist and shout by the beetles. I was given this job 20 minutes before the actual show which means I wasn't able to rehearse therefore I feel it sounded scrappy and unrehearsed in the concert. Ignoring the tambourine in the song this song felt and sounded a lot fuller compared to our song this could have been due to more rehearsals and being more focused on the song. Another issue that we had that may have impacted the song and performance is when we rehearsed, majority of the time people from our group learnt in lesson which impacted our rehearsals as we couldn't rehearse as a group.
