Practice Diary 1

we were told this lesson that we had to do a musical performance next week to get an idea of our sort of talent and abilities. We weren't graded on the piece but we were given feedback on it. and which     point i went home and rehearsed the song basket case by green day that uses palm muting and power chords. When i got home i used my amp to find a good setting for the song. After listening to the song i decided i needed an overdriven sound with a high treble sound so that the song sounded crunchy as opposed to meaty. To achieve this i plugged in my Boss DS-1 distortion pedal and on the amp i turned the bass down and increased the treble. Doing this caused the guitar to have the same sound as billie joe armstrong's guitar in the actual song. After finding a good set up for my guitar i then practiced the chord progression along to an acapella version of the song in order to get use to timings. Overall my practice went well but i needed to work on my palm muting skills.
