Today i rehearsed the set list for my bands gig up in a recording studio in Arundel. In band i play rhythm guitar and i do the vocals for a song called Sabotage by Beastie Boys. For this song i have to shout and manage to maintain the scream for the word "why" for a whole bar. This was challenging at first but after enough practicing of the song i've managed to be able to achieve this. From doing this i feel that if i ever need to sing and hold a note i should be able to do this. The song Sabotage also contains natural harmonics which i have learnt how to do and can now play them confidently. Because of rehearsing this song i have learnt to very helpful techniques. Natural harmonics are a good technique for me to learn as this helps me to gain more skills on the guitar and increase my music knowledge which in turn help me to write more inventive songs and play other songs that include natural harmonics.
Also at this rehearsal My speed for chord changes has improved this was due to us rehearsing a song called dead bodies by rancid which is an extremely fast paced punk song (Dead bodies - rancid)
As most punk songs are played very fast and have distorted and shouting vocals. Therefore by learning these two techniques it helps me to be able to write my own songs and so forth.
