Today i went home and practiced the Cover songs that we had to perform as ensemble. These songs included: Boys Don't Cry - The Cure, Teenage kicks - The Undertones and Welcome to paradise - Green day. Luckily we all chose a song each from the ensemble and i already knew Welcome to paradise, however i did not know ho to play the guitar part during the bass solo. Because of this i took the time today to learn this part so we were able to perform the song next lesson. The only issue i had is that the song is played in E flat tuning therefore when we played the song we forgot to tune down therefore this part sounded bad. Gus had also not properly leant the song so i had to teach it to him during the lesson which reduced rehearsal time. This issue frustrated me but i pulled through any ways and showed good teamwork and leadership so that we were able to move on with the unit.
The skills i learnt from the cover songs came in handy when we had to create our original songs for example I used welcome to paradise's guitar rift to help create our original punk style song as it has fast guitar power chords and a lot of plan muting. This was then implemented and used a lot in our punk style song.
